New Mechanisms for Attracting Investment in Kazakhstan’s Aviation Sector Discussed

Issues related to financing the aviation sector in Kazakhstan and Central Asia were discussed in Astana as part of the international financial forum Astana Finance Days 2026.

Representatives of the aviation, banking and investment sectors took part in a session titled “Unlocking the Potential of Aviation Finance in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.”

Saltanat Tompieva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee, noted that work is underway in several areas to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in the region’s aviation sector.

“Kazakhstan is an aviation leader in the region and an important link in Central Asia’s integration into the global logistics system. Our priorities are to develop aviation, establish an aviation finance hub on the basis of the AIFC, and strengthen cooperation with financial institutions,” Saltanat Tompieva said.

The session covered the financing of airport infrastructure, the renewal of aircraft fleets, and opportunities for attracting investment into aviation projects. Experts emphasized the importance of introducing modern financial instruments to attract capital to the sector.

Participants also highlighted the growth potential of the aviation market in Central Asia. Increasing population mobility, as well as the development of tourism and trade, is driving demand for air transport and creating new investment opportunities.

The participants also discussed the development of an aviation finance hub at the AIFC and the expansion of cooperation with financial institutions.
