Kazakhstan presented its experience in using biometric technologies at the country’s airports during the 21st ICAO Symposium on the Traveller Identification Programme (TRIP).
More than 600 delegates attended the event, including ICAO Council President Toshiyuki Onuma, representatives of 70 countries, seven international organizations and international aviation companies.
Kazakhstan was represented by Permanent Representative to ICAO Timur Tlegenov and Vsevolod Kim, Director of the Department of Facilitation, Passenger and Cargo Services and Chief Aviation Inspector of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh delegation spoke at the “Seamless Travel in Practice” session. Specialists presented the results of implementing facial recognition, biometric passenger identification and automated border control systems at the country’s airports.
They also presented solutions for reducing passenger processing time, integrating digital solutions with government information systems and facilitating border control procedures.
Representatives of Romania, Singapore, Croatia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe also shared their experience during the session.

The discussions focused on contactless technologies, integrating digital identification systems into national border management infrastructure, personal data protection and security requirements. Participants also highlighted the importance of ensuring that new technologies comply with ICAO standards and recommended practices.
