Air connectivity between Kazakhstan and Türkiye will be expanded. The aviation authorities of the two countries have agreed to nearly double the number of flights on major and tourist routes.
On August 13–14, 2026, negotiations were held in Istanbul between the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Türkiye. Following the talks, the parties signed a new Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in civil aviation and expanding air connectivity between the two countries.
Under the new agreement, the number of flights from Istanbul to Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, as well as from Ankara to Astana and Almaty, will increase from 76 to 138 flights per week. On tourist routes, the number of flights from Antalya and Bodrum to cities in Kazakhstan will increase from 44 to 86 per week.
«The total number of authorized flights on the above-mentioned routes has increased from 120 to 224 flights per week. On all other routes, airlines of both parties will be allowed to operate up to 14 flights per week. In addition, the parties agreed to operate up to 76 cargo flights using fifth freedom traffic rights for transportation to third countries», – the Civil Aviation Committee reported.
The negotiations also covered enhanced cooperation in areas such as state regulation, flight and aviation safety, the investigation of aviation accidents, airport infrastructure development and the digitalization of the industry.
According to the agency, the expansion of air connectivity will create new opportunities for passengers and businesses, contribute to the growth of tourist flows, strengthen trade and economic ties, and further develop cooperation between the two countries.
